In these times especially, qualified candidates
for all medical positions are scarce. Knapp • Frazer
Consulting offers a job bulletin
board where clients and other medical facilities may
post job openings free of charge. Your consultant will also
network with other clients, vendors, and colleagues to help
find the right candidate for your open position.
Conduct Technical Interviews
Before
you schedule time for a personal interview, have Knapp • Frazer
Consulting review résumés and screen applicants
to determine to what extent their technical training and
experience meet your needs.
Provide Initial and Follow-up Training
Some
test system vendors provide training for their systems. Compliment
that training with initial and on-going training on total
laboratory operations. Knapp • Frazer Consulting
provides initial training upon hiring new staff members
and supplemental training when new test systems are added
or competency assessments indicate that further training
is necessary. All training is documented for your personnel
files.
Perform Annual Competency Assessments
CLIA
and some state agencies require competency assessments for
all testing personnel. These assessments cover the employee's
technical capability to perform laboratory testing and are
separate from more general performance reviews. Knapp • Frazer
Consulting performs assessments in a timely manner, recommends/provides
supplemental training, and furnishes documentation of
assessments and supplemental training.
Assume Duties Delegated by Lab Director
Certain
duties of the laboratory director (link to Featured Article
#5) may be delegated to a qualified technical consultant/supervisor.
Delegation frees the director to perform tasks only he/she
is capable of doing, while the technical aspects of laboratory
oversight are performed by a Knapp • Frazer consultant
who is highly qualified and experienced in these areas.
